Magnificent dish representing an eagle or a falcon in the central part, made using the cloisonné technique, that is, cellular enamel on a copper background. The color composition shows a bird of prey in flight against a blue sky. Its protruding claws suggest an intended landing on a nearby rock. The set is decorated with decorative friezes around the tray and flowers on the back of the dish.
Japan, Edo, circa 1850.
