Very beautiful oil on canvas by Victor Gilbert (1847-1935) representing a genre scene in a market. In the foreground, we see a saleswoman behind her workbench and a customer. In the background, the rest of the market. Its depiction of butchered oxen also testifies to the harshness of daily life.
