Paper mache and various materials.
Late 19th - early 20th century.
These paper flower models were invented in 1866 by Robert Brendel. They were intended for teaching purposes, often disassembled, they presented an enlarged model of the anatomy of various plants, algae and fungi. These models were grouped together and marketed in catalogs that increased in diversity over time.
Initially acquired by universities and research centers, they were increasingly appreciated for their aesthetic qualities during the 20th century.
Our models can be found in the catalogue, which allows us to know the number and the name of the plant reproduced: "Tulip Generiana" N.200.
