Imposing bust of a man in white marble, bearing an inscription on the side of the terrace: RAYMOND SUDRE 1920.
It is possibly a portrait or self-portrait of the artist.
RAYMOND SUDRE: born in Perpignan in 1870, is the son of a marble worker from whom he learned stone cutting.
He moved to Paris to enter the School of Fine Arts where he became a pupil of the sculptor Alexandre Falguière, then after his death, of Antonin Mercié. He won the second Grand Prix de Rome for sculpture in 1900 for the David statue.
This bust is in good condition, some gaps on the base of the terrace.
