Isidore Laurent Deroy (1797-1886) was a pupil of the architect Félix and the painter Louis-François Cassas (1756-1827). He was a prolific illustrator and the author of a considerable body of work. His work includes French landscapes and animals, mostly drawn in sepia.
Joseph-Rose Lemercier (1803-1887) was one of the most important Parisian printer-lithographers of the 19th century. He worked for the greatest publishers and artists of his time. He played an important role in the dissemination and generalization of the photolithography process, which transferred a photographic image onto a lithographic stone, enabling prints to be made using printing ink.
