"Important Bronze "diane De Gabies", After Praxiteles - Early 20th Century"
Important bronze with brown patina, from the French school of the early 20th century, depicting Diane de Gabies, standing, dressed in a peplos and wearing sandals. Styled in a bun, her wavy hair is flattened with a discreet headband. Diana of Gabies is a work taken from a marble sculpture attributed to Praxiteles (c. 395-326 BC), discovered during excavations in 1792 in Gabies, Italy. A signature 'A.D', topped with a small star, is engraved on the back right corner of the sculpture. This antique bronze will seduce, among other things, by its size, its presence and its harmony. ******** Period: Early 20th century. Excellent condition.
