Gashghaï around 1960 in perfect condition with octagonal medallion with stairs, midnight blue decorated with stylized white horns, placed on a dark red field covered with stylized and colored flowers like a spring meadow.
Four floral spandrels, decorated with peacocks and orange medallions like huge flowers complete the ensemble surrounded by a band of stairs. Beautiful model in fresh and bright colors, toisant, 143 cm wide by 222 cm long, 211 cm without the fringes.
High quality wool on wool model from Iran in perfect condition. The mixed hair fringes are in good condition.
They often include goat, sheep and camel wool, a mixture found in most ethnic rugs from Iran, Central Asia and the Caucasus.
These rugs are still essentially dyed with natural, mineral and vegetable products, which was not the case at the end of the 19th century, when chemical dyes arrived, greatly simplifying dyeing.
The beautifully complex design reveals many tribal motifs and other stylized plants that we encounter always abundantly on these mats.
The border consists of the symbol of water, eternity on a white background, stylized flowers, round and square, decorating the perimeter with elegance.
These very beautiful tribal carpets are knotted in the region of Shiraz located near the ancient Persepolis which gave its name to Persia, nowadays, Iran. Shiraz is in the province of Fars where the Gashghaï tribes reside and produce carpets under the two names, Shiraz or Ghashghaï.
These carpets are decorative, solid and easy to arrange in an interior.
This population still lives today, breeding and making carpets, semi-nomadic for some, for herds, the rest of this group is unfortunately completely sedentary.
