"balloon" Plate In Lunéville Earthenware, Circa 1785.

Plate with contoured edge in Lunéville earthenware with polychrome decoration in small fire called "au ballon*", three insects on the wing. Around 1785. Late 18th century. Diameter: 22.8cm. *December 1, 1783: Charles and Robert take off from the Jardin des Tuileries, it is the first human flight in a hydrogen balloon. Cf.
