Object description :

"Pair Of In-between Furniture Or Pair Of Furniture At Support Height Nap III Period Around 1850"
Pair of side-height pieces of furniture in burr walnut veneer with inlaid Greek-style framing fillets and floral motifs in light wood. The furniture opens onto a door and rests on 4 spinning tops. Ornamentation of chiseled and gilded bronzes such as foliage drops and rows of pearls. Around 1850. H x W x D = 106 x 62 x 40cm Excellent condition - Restored by our workshop. What we think: This pair of furniture is in excellent condition and very decorative. From the Napoleon III period, they are quite spectacular DID YOU KNOW?: The support cabinet is a kind of chest of drawers with one or two leaves, on low feet or on a base and whose top is positioned at elbow height of a standing person (about 1 meter). Its upper belt sometimes accepts one or more drawers. Unlike the low sideboard, the support cabinet is generally higher than it is wide. It is often placed against a wall or between two windows from which it takes its name of in-between cabinet. With a single door, it also takes the name of low cabinet. Historically, sideboards were called sideboards, cabinet bottoms, etc., the height of which did not exceed that of the support paneling decorating the bottom of a wall in old apartments. There are very beautiful Napoleon III style cabinets in Boulle marquetry with a solid or glass door.
