The body of the lamp is in finely striated vermeil for a good grip. The ends are in ivory.
The bottom cap is marked: Mappin - Paris
It is probably a lady's lamp, made by Mappin & Webb, as a luxury version of a common object.
Inside is a battery marked "Microlux".
The lamp obviously no longer works but the filament of the bulb seems to be intact.
The silver part is hallmarked:
. Boar's head
. Goldsmith's mark to be identified: B&D with a mark resembling a Chinese lantern (?).
Superb little lamp, very interesting by the use of precious materials, unusual for an electrical object.
