Object description :

"Italy - Animated Italian Village Scene - Signed G. Visone - Dated 1836"
Stunning street scene representing the village of Sora, in Lazio, as the painter took care to note in 2 places.
In the foreground, in front of a forge, we see 3 men shoeing a bull, and a woman suckling a child. In a medium shot, figures on a balcony, well lit and a flowering tree. In the background, a church steeple and other buildings.
The scene, realistic, teems with details. The artist signed and dated his work on the arm of a cart.
Very good condition, without restoration, clean, slightly stretched canvas. Modern golden frame, in the old style.

Giuseppe Visone was born in Naples around 1800. His date of death is unknown. He exhibited at the Paris Salon between 1835 and 1846. Queen Marie-Amélie bought several works from him. The Louvre Museum keeps a work by this artist.
