Jules Naudet, sculptor from Langres, and a pupil of François Rude at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Dijon, supplied many statues to the Cathedral of Langres, including the Virgin and Child. I do not particularly like the term “Neo-Baroque” for late nineteenth-century French sculptors, but in this case Naudet's angel is certainly in the tradition of the cherubim of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
