MAGAUD (Dominique Antoine Jean-Baptiste): painter of portraits and history, born in Marseille on August 4, 1817, died in the same city on December 22, 1899 (Ec.Fr.) On October 9, 1839, he entered the Ecole des Beaux Arts. He had for master Aug. Aubert and L. Cogniet. Debuted at the Salon in 1841. In 1861, and 1863 third class medal. In December 1869, he was appointed director of the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Marseille.
