"The Cellist And The Musician Angel, Oil On Canvas End Of 19 Th"
A young cellist is seated holding his cello, he raises his hand to his ear to better hear the divine music played to him at the lira da braccio by a marvelous musical angel. On a Gothic desk we can read initials which are those of the musician J. R (?). On the ground we recognize partitions. To the right of the stage, organs evoke the favorite instrument of Saint Cecilia, patroness of musicians.
This musician composer who seems to be from the 18th century remains to be identified, just like the painter who left an illegible signature.
Possibly an Italian work, around 1900.
Very good condition. Frameless.
