"France XVIth, Sculpture Of Saint Marguerite And The Dragon H 72 Cm"

This 16th century sculpture shows us the Saint dressed in a long green-gray belted dress over which is thrown a red pleated coat, full of strength with the dragon at her feet and full of grace with a peaceful face and joined hands.
Sainte Marguerite is one of the saints who are invoked more particularly for kidney ailments and childbirth. Indeed, she would have had to face a dragon which would have devoured her, but miraculously managed to extract herself from the belly of the monster and then to trample it.
He has in this sculpture a strong iconographic interest and holds a very dynamic place.
