This print is the representation of minamoto no yoshie in the series "story of a hundred famous heroes", it was printed in 1848. Minamoto no Yoshi-ie (源 義 的), born in 1042 and died on August 4, 1106, was the son of Yoritoshi. according to legend, his father dreamed that the god of war Hachiman, presented him with a sword, and soon after his wife gave birth to a son. This led the father to interpret his dream as a promise of greatness for the boy, who was then called Hachimantaro "the young Hachiman". Yoshiiye's renaming party was held at Iwashimizu Hachimangu Temple near Kyoto, and he is still given special reverence at this temple at the age of 7. Yoshiye is the hero of many adventures during the Heian period, some of which are also attributed to his father. He was a strong archer and able to shoot a line through three armors. His bow is said to have opened a source in a rock during the Nine Years' War and in 1096, when his father was very ill, he healed him by frightening, with three vibrations of his bowstring, the oni, which was the cause of his illness. He is a pioneer in bringing the warriors to power and the shogunate thus taking power over the nobility and the emperor. Kuniyoshi utagawa paints him with a bow as his legendary skills attributed to him. Kuniyoshi Utagawa (1797-1861), 歌川国芳, Son of a silk dyer, he was born in 1797 under the name of Yoshizo. In his youth, he probably assisted his father, providing the drawings for the pieces to be dyed, and thus naturally oriented himself towards the world of art. He was accepted as a student by Toyokuni Utagawa in 1814. Later, he founded his own school and his drawings became popular. , poetic and warrior whose strong influence is found in his work. He is the author of 10,000 prints and several series. The great earthquake of 1855, after which, returning home late, he had been given for dead by his family and the members of his workshop, marked the end of his great period. Suffering from illness and depression, he now produced little. He died in Edo in 1861.
