It is true that the musketeers in the 17th century used this type of flask in studded wood covered with leather (sometimes a little larger in size). However, you should know that these objects remained in use until the end of the 18th century in Catalonia, Andalusia, and even in Morocco.
This specimen was collected about sixty years ago in Catalonia. I therefore guarantee it as at least dating from the end of the 18th century, but perhaps older.
The wood is in several parts, with two sides meeting, covered with leather (small old gaps in places) with iron and brass nailing, and another flat side in patinated wood.
A turned bone spout allows the powder to exit.
The item shows obvious signs of age, and a nice patina.
This object can therefore be integrated either into a decoration linked to muskets ans musketers during the 17th century, or to a hunting icollection during the 18th century, since this type of powder flask was used by hunters in Roussillon and Catalonia at this time.
