Clovis-Edmond Masson, born in Paris on March 7 1838 and died in 1913, was a French animal sculptor. He was trained by the famous sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye and specialized in the representation of animals. His sculptures were mainly made of plaster, wax or bronze. From 1867, Masson regularly exhibited his works at the Paris Salon, until 1881. During his career, he created more than fifty works, demonstrating his talent in capturing the life and nature of animals . The municipal museum of the city of Nîmes houses several sculptures by Masson, testifying to the recognition of his art. These pieces allow visitors to appreciate the realism and beauty of his animal representations.
