Empire Style Couple Protecting From The Rain - J Claude Boyer - 20th Century

This charming scene, in shades of gray, shows us a young couple protecting themselves from the rain in the corner of a door. The man and the woman wear Empire style clothes: frock coat and three-cornered hat for the man, white dress belted under the chest for the woman. The scene is bare and nevertheless alive, thanks to the expression of the faces of the two protagonists.
The work is signed J. Claude Boyer lower right. JC Boyer was born and worked in Dijon.
The Dijon Museum of Fine Arts exhibits some of his works.
