Jean-Claude Pizzetty, known as Claudius Pizetty or Pizetta, was a still-life painter born around 1832, in Belley (Ain) ; he died around 1899, in Lyon.

Pizzetta's work depicts a hunting trophy with a rabbit, freshly killed, lying on a table alongside birds. The rabbit's coat is vibrant, flooded with light. We admire the way in which the artist provokes an extremely tactile sensation and illustrates this in the rendering of textures. These influences are easily discernible: the memory of Chardin dominates the composition.
