Object description :

"XVIIth War Armet"
It is a typical armet from the first half of the 17th century.
It is always difficult to assign a nationality to these helmets, which equipped fighters from several countries. The style of work would evoke a Dutch or Germanic work, but there are also representations of officers of the army of Louis XIII  wearing this kind of helmet.
The armet consists of a fixed part and a mobile part, plus a visor. The skull is in two parts, which like the morions, meet at the level of a central ridge or "comb".
At the back is riveted the part that protects the neck, and a plume holder.
The moving part is in one hammered piece, with a riveted gorget. It hangs on the back part by a hook on the right side.
The visor is mobile, it protrudes well forward, as on the majority of helmets of this period.
This very unusual piece will fit perfectly into a decor dedicated to the Haute Epoque.
