China, 18th century, Qing dynasty, superb, rare and very old carved wooden statue depicting a demonic spirit called "Yaksha". He is dressed in formal attire and stands on a square base. He holds a circle in his left hand and the rest of a spear in his right hand. Trace of original lacquer. Remains of hair under the nose and chin indicating that a mustache and beard were present. Votive box on the back whose lid is missing. Good state of preservation given the age of this piece. Abrasions due to age. The base of the left side and part of the left foot are partially missing. Height 23.8cm. The scale witness on the last photograph is a small model of a lighter from a well-known brand.
