Glazed sandstone sculpture representing a draped woman standing on a pedestal. Titled L'ADIEU AUX RÊVES on the front base, signed P.AUBÉ and bearing the stamp of the EMILE MULLER factory on the side of the base. Height 68.5cm. Base 19 x 23 cm. Jean-Paul AUBÉ (1837 - 1916) sculptor born in Longwy. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Paris with Antoine Laurent Dantan and Francisque Duret. Gold medals at the Salon of French Artists in Paris in 1874 and 1876. He then specialized in the sculpture of busts and commemorative statues. He became a professor at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, among his students we can mention Gaston Lachaise, Charles Virion and Jean Baffier.
