Object description :

"Covered Pots In Earthenware South Of France Late 18th Century"
Rare pair of covered vases in the shape of an earthenware urn with multicolored decoration from the late 18th century - early 19th century. These square-based vases, taking the form of the "Médiciss" vases, are decorated in the lower part with brown-violet lines, friezes of blue and ocher flowers with green and brown dotted lines. The upper part, treated in low relief with trimmings and drapery decoration held by children seated on the shoulder. The tops, decorated with yellow and purple nets, are surmounted by three branches of fruit trees in yellow, green and blue colors. A few accidents should be noted, in particular on the ends of the drapes on the arms of the children, as well as a branch and leaf missing from one of the tops of the lid, small chips on the edge of the lids and perfectly acceptable base angles ( see detail pictures). No cracks, no restoration. I present to you this pair of vases in the state of discovery, which I consider correct given their age and their fragility. These vases have all the characteristics of potters from Allemagne en Provence (near Moustiers Sainte Marie): the somewhat rustic decor, the four recognizable colors (manganese, blue, ocher and green). A favorite for this model, moreover, comes in a pair. Note: the subject of children holding the drapes is quite charming. delivery: €15 for metropolitan France.
