"19th Century Antique Molding"
19th century molding of Juno's face on its original blackened wooden base. Juno was the Roman goddess who protected the nation as a whole but also had a special regard for all aspects of women's lives. She is often considered the Roman version of the Greek goddess of love and marriage, Hera. Juno was the wife and sister of Jupiter, the chief Roman god, and both were worshiped with the goddess Minerva at the Quirinal in Rome. Our casting is in good general condition, the edge under the chin is slightly damaged on one side. Beautiful patina and strong presence!
