C V Martin : Large Charles X Era Sterling Silver Soup Tureen - Paris 1819-38

Important Covered Soup Tureen in Sterling Silver from the Charles X period. It rests on a circular threaded foot, with a plain body equipped with two handles with a spectacular decoration of leafy branches with florets, pomegranates and palmettes attachments. Its domed lid is surmounted by an extraordinary finial - Cornucopia brimming with pomegranetes, surmounted on either side by Swans' Heads bound by clasps.

Masterly crafted from the highest quality silver, it is punched with the "Vieillard" 1st Standard hallmarks (.950) and Guarantee marks for PARIS 1819-38, hallmarks of the Association of Goldsmiths,  and hallmarks of Master Goldsmith C.V. MARTIN active in 1817. This magnificent soup tureen from the Charles X period is in excellent condition, moreover revised and cleaned by our Parisian Goldsmith.
