Ca. 1820, China.
This interesting early nineteenth century China trade trunk carries a brass name plate on the top with the name ‘Sarlet’.
The leather-covered camphor wooden trunk has a hinged top and carrying-handles with brass-studded decoration overall.
Trunks such as these were made by the Chinese for the British market and as such resemble English designs of the time.
