ANTONIUCCI VOLTI (1915-1989) Rare 20th century bronze sculpture with a nuanced green patina signed VOLTI and bearing the round stamp of the founder Rosini in Paris and numbered 2/8 (This piece comes with its original certificate of authenticity which will be given to the future buyer) Listed model entitled "Les Parisiennes" depicting two elegant young women dressed in long strapless dresses holding a book in their hands and walking on a quadrangular terrace. Very good condition and beautiful patina. Dimensions: 32 cm high X 18 cm wide X 7 cm deep. Note the possibility of adding a screw base provided for this purpose. The work on offer here, entitled Les Parisiennes, is part of a series on the theme, the first of which was presented at the Salon of painters who witnessed their time in 1958, an edition specially dedicated to the subject of Parisiennes. The Volti series was made famous in 1992 by the creation of a stone version. Antoniucci Volti, pseudonym of Antoniucci Voltigero (1915-1989) is a French sculptor and draftsman of Italian origin. His sculpture of figurative tradition is in line with the artist as Aristide Maillol. All his work glorifies the woman and her body. In 1928, Volti was admitted to the School of Decorative Arts in Nice. After obtaining a gold medal at the Marseille fair with two polychrome bas-reliefs, he enrolled in 1932 at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris in the studio of Jean Boucher. Volti wins the first second Grand Prix de Rome. During the Second World War, he found his studio at no. 5 rue Jean-Ferrandi destroyed by a bomb in 1943. His reflections during his captivity and this disaster destroyed his entire artistic past and the various influences he had. received from his masters. It was at this time that his sculpture became more personal and he began to sign "Volti". After the Liberation, Antoniucci Volti receives his first public commissions and begins to produce his monumental works always around his favorite subject, the Woman. He draws every day from living models, as many sculptors do. In 1950, Volti was appointed professor of wood carving at the School of Applied Arts in Paris. Throughout his life, he accumulated sketches and studies, in pencil, charcoal or red chalk. They allow him to better analyze the volumes and to find his very particular style, in which we recognize the constant characteristics of Mediterranean statuary. Often compared to Maillol, he said: “Maillol is carnal. I am an architect of sensuality”. A first retrospective of his work was organized in 1957 in Paris. He exhibits regularly at the Salon Comparaisons. Volti's sculptures appear in the squares of many cities (Paris, Angers, Orléans, Colombes, etc.). A museum-foundation is dedicated to him in the citadel of Villefranche-sur-Mer where he has always lived.
