Theme: the 3 Dutch gin drinkers Henri Cassiers, born August 11, 1858 in Antwerp and died February 27, 1944 in Brussels (Ixelles), was a Belgian illustrator and poster designer. An architect by training, Henri Cassiers began to paint at the free academy "La Patte de Dindon" (on the Grand-Place in Brussels), then at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp (professor Henry Stacquet), and at the Brussels and Saint-Josse-ten-Noode academies. Painter, watercolourist and gouachist, lithographer and etcher, he is best known for his commercial posters, created for shipping companies and seaside resorts on the North Sea (Flanders and Zeeland) such as the one produced in 1898 for Le Coq where he lived. . Cassiers illustrates a number of works by Jean d'Ardenne, notably Notes d'un vagabond (1887) and several of his tourist guides.
