The morions were used, from the 2nd half of the 16th century to the middle of the 17th century by many armies, but the "Black and White" models are typically Germanic.
The decoratio style of this one has sometimes been linked to the Nuremberg city guard. From the style of the work, it can be dated to the last quarter of the 16th century or the beginning of the 17th century.
The skull is in 2 parts, as is almost always the case for these helmets (contrary to what many authors have writen). The assembly in two halves made crafting infinitely easier.
The two halves meet at the center comb, where one overlaps the other, and they are riveted at the front and back edges.
The decoration is stamped by hammering.
A plume holder is present at the back of the helmet.
Near the edge of the helmet, five brass rosettes on the right and left are crossed by copper rivets, which hold a strip of leather inside the skull.
The copper rivets are riveted to iron washers.
The leathers parts have become completely stiff.
The whole object is in very good condition, and this model is unusual. It will fit perfectly into a middle-age /renaissance collection.
