Object description :

"Religious Painting The Washing Of The Feet - XVIIth"
Around 1640, coming from the workshop of Frans Francken (1581 -1642), this beautiful Flemish school, oil on copper, reminds us of this sign of love of God and deep humility, which constitutes the episode of the washing of the feet. More prosaically.... let's keep our feet on the ground, could we also understand from this symbolic act.
Kneeling before his apostles and just before the Last Supper, Christ in Glory delicately washes the feet of Saint Peter, the first of the apostles to benefit from this act of love.

Our painting is in parqueted copper and these dimensions are 31 cm by 24 cm. Dimensions with gilded frame and posterior of 38 cm by 42.
Excellent condition

Gospel according to Saint John: When he had washed their feet, taken back his clothes and sat back down to eat, he said to them: "Do you understand what What have I done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for I am. If then I have washed your feet, I the Lord and the Teacher, you too must wash one another's feet. to others. For this is an example which I have given you, that you also may do as I have done for you. Verily, verily, I say unto you, the servant is not more greater than his master, nor the one sent greater than he who sent him"
