"Japanese Terracotta And Lacquer Vase"
Japanese terracotta and lacquer vase. Lacquered terracotta dating from around 1880 - 1900. The shape of the elongated vase allows the decoration to stretch along the length. The scene represents an elderly person in a blue cape and a monk carrying baskets on a background of cherry blossoms. The collar finely decorated with Greek friezes, ribbons and stylized insects in petals refers to the privileged relationship of the Japanese with nature and continuous change. The base, also adorned with a Greek frieze, is surmounted by motifs typical of Asian architecture based on winding interlacing. The red, brown and black colors are enhanced by the gold. Possible delivery not included in the price.
