Around 1880 Bright, lively beach scene where onlookers, fishermen, seaweed and vacationers mingle (we can also make out 4 cabins or beach tents typical of the 19th century). Beautiful iconic view of the Saint-Malo fortified city from the end of the 19th century. Original frame in very good condition. No restoration on the canvas, exceptional condition. A very pretty piece that will delight fans of Saint-Malo! Dimensions without frame: 61 x 38 cm Dimensions with frame: 80 x 56 cm Jean-Jacques, dit John, Pradier was born on May 21, 1836. He is the son of the sculptor Jean-Jacques, dit James, Pradier. He became a portrait and genre painter. In his "Cahiers des enfants" written for his sons, John Pradier summarized for ten years, from 1872 to 1882, his daily activities and encounters. This testimony is crucial, both for the information it provides on artists, writers and other contemporary personalities as well as for the memories of his father and the details of his mother's life. A privileged place is reserved there for evenings spent with Victor Hugo and Juliette Drouet, rue de Clichy and then avenue d'Eylau, between 1878 and 1881. He died on June 26, 1912. He rests with his father in the Père Lachaise cemetery.
