Raf Verjans (Tongeren, May 12, 1935 - January 27, 2022) Born May 12, 1935 in Tongeren, Raf Verjans studied for seven years at the School of Art of the Benedictine Abbey of Maredsous, from which he graduated in 1956. After an apprenticeship in Maastricht, Raf Verjans established himself as an art blacksmith in Tongeren, open to continuous innovation and experimentation with various materials, which already in 1966 attracted the attention of the jury of the Young Belgian Sculpture competition. From that year he also worked for some time with the art laboratory 'Instant Art' in Maastricht and even with the Provo movement. In 1967, a certain number of situations and projects thus saw the light of day
