Lithograph "voyage De La Pérouse" By H. Da Ros

Very beautiful lithograph illustrating the Voyage de La Pérouse, produced by Henri Da Ros in the 60s/70s, TL 20/270 ex. Under frame "Henri Da Ros entered the art publishing business in 1972, illustrating "Le Voyage de Laperouse ". Confronted then to illustrate an edition of the "Essais de Montaigne", in four volumes, the artist, "laborious and indefatigable" managed to seduce the elitist world of bibliophiles by producing one of the best interpretations of the genre. With the "Contes de Voltaire", new edition in four volumes, we discovered a Da Ros full of humor and elegance. The artist proved to be a virtuoso, capable of soaking up a text with such precision that one can that Voltaire himself would have smiled when discovering his characters. Just as in Montesquieu's "L'Esprit des Lois", Da Ros's compositions are so many precious scenes, finely chiseled. Anxious to abundantly illustrate the work, the artist has constructed his inset illustrations in several scenes. Although disparate and distant in time, they fit together in a balance of skilfully composed shapes and colors. "Jean François de Galaup, Count of La Pérouse (August 23, 1741 - disappeared in 1788), born in the Château du Gô, in the parish of Saint-Julien, two leagues from Albi, was a French naval officer and explorer.
