"Tabernacle Veil In Red Velvet - 19th Century"
This conopée, red sateen lining, presents a pelican in Glory in its center. This central motif is sewn with gold thread and the whole of this beautiful piece is bordered with a braid and fringes in gold thread. The symbol of the pelican, a Christ figure if ever there was one, blends perfectly with this veil which covers the tabernacle, receptacle of the consecrated hosts.
A 19th century work, probably from the Chatel and Tassinari house in Lyon, founded in 1680 in Lyon An infrequent liturgical object, because it has almost fallen into disuse
Dimensions 69 cm high by 79 cm wide.
Good condition, however note a few holes.
