French painter and illustrator, Louis Vallet was notably the author of 2 albums on the Chic à Cheval published in 1911, and created costumes for the Théâtre de l'Odéon. He illustrated many books and contributed to many illustrated newspapers, including humorous ones; among his favorite themes was Parisian elegance, of which this lithograph is an example.
