Rabovarlophilia: Rare 19th century Peugeot Frères curry plane, dugout piece. The use of large planes like this one was rather intended for roughing out structural beams and parquet boards. The drawbar is the only part of wood independent of the rest of the monoxyl plane to allow easy replacement when it breaks. The tool therefore had to be robust to resist over time. It was therefore necessary to have dense, solid wood, but also homogeneous so as not to split under the blows.
