Lyonnais painter Louis BISSINGER who signed his paintings under the pseudonym of Régis BERARD, produced still lifes and landscapes. He befriended many painters in his region: Giacomini, Anselme, Abel Gay etc. He was deported during the war in Buckenwald. On his release he exhibited the watercolors made in the death camps, illustrating their hell. He obtained the 1st prize from the city of Lyon in 1945. He participated in numerous exhibitions. In 1954 he obtained the 1st price of the Friends of the Arts of Grenoble. In 1957 the French State and the Museum of the Army acquire several of his paintings and reinforce his success. The navy is in good condition with its original frame from the 1950s.
