Interesting medieval heraldic griffin head with engraving and gilding. Beautiful visible details. Part of an iron pin visible. Exact function unknown. Possibly armor decoration. The griffin in medieval heraldry often represented strength, courage and vigilance, combining the body of a lion and the head of an eagle. These mythical creatures were often used as symbols of protection and nobility in coats of arms and spells. Material: Copper alloy with gold plating. Period: 12th-15th century Size: 33x26mm
