It is a beautiful interior portrait, painting the interior of a room where a moment of everyday life takes place.
The early 20th century work is signed in the lower left by the French painter Marius Barthalot.
Marius Barthalot (1861-1955) was born in Marseille and had Cabanel, Léon Bonnat and Saint-Pierre as his masters.
From 1883 he began to exhibit in Paris at the 'Salon des Artistes Français'
and received an honourable award in 1896 and a 'Prix Bashkirtseff'.
He then received a third-class medal in 1899 and a bronze medal in 1900 at the 'Exposition Universelle'.
Then a second-class medal in 1907 and finally he received the 'Prix Maignan' prize 1913.
He participated in the 'Association des Artistes Marseillais' and his works are exhibited in the
'Beaux Arts de Marseille' museum.The antique painting with its original canvas is enclosed in a golden frame.
