A silver and enamelled pendant in the form of a heart.

German, late 17th century.

Measures 5.5 x 4.2 x 1.9cm.

The heart is decorated in blue, yellow and red enamels with silver floral decoration. Each side is set with silver profiles of the Virgin and Christ. The silver mount is hinged and opens to expose a large blue enamelled locket interior, it was possibly used to carry a relic or the host as a portable pyx. One flower is missing to the side with the Virgin.
