Adoration Of The Magi

Very interesting oil on canvas from the end of the 18th or the beginning of the 19th century, taking up the Adoration of the Magi by Matthias Stomer dating from the 17th century, and currently kept in the Toulouse museum. Our painting is not a slavish recovery by a copyist, but the work of a talented artist to identify, who made his own interpretation there with strength and originality. The scene depicting the Holy Family surrounded by the Magi is brushed with a vigorous touch, subtle colors, and a light treated in a remarkable way. Painting in perfect condition, just out of restoration, presented in a 19th century blackened wooden frame. Total dimensions: 60 X 51 cm, and 46 X 38 without frame.
