"Slope Desk In Precious Wood, Napoleon III Period - Mid-19th Century"
Rare lady's desk in rosewood veneer decorated with rosewood and stained wood marquetry, and decorated with bronze fittings. This period piece of furniture, with movement on all its facades, has the particularity of being domed on its flap. This one is richly worked and surrounded by a scalloped and chiseled bronze rod. On a rosewood veneer in 4 sheets, we find rosewood inlays forming large scrolls. In the center, we observe an oval medallion, horizontal, depicting a plant scene where flowers and plants of different colors form a bouquet, accompanied by a beautiful bird and a butterfly. This flap is also equipped with a beautiful entrance in original bronze accompanied by its key in working order. On top of the desk, there is a tray with a gallery. On each side of the flap, a bronze on the edge of the piece of furniture joins the upper part of the openwork gallery above. This upper part also has a floral composition. The piece of furniture rests on 4 curved legs, the upper part of which is covered with a fall representing a child. Each foot is dressed in a bronze ridge ending in a bronze hoof. The back of the piece of furniture is mahogany formed from a single sheet without joints. The flap opens with brass hinges forming dovetails. It has a dark rosewood rim with red leather accompanied by two cold edgings, a golden vignette, angles and a central motif. Inside, we find two drawers whose fronts are moving, in rosewood with a rosewood surround and an original chiseled brass button. The drawer bottoms are mahogany.
