"Small Mahogany Buffet, Directory, Return From Egypt - Late Nineteenth"
Elegant sideboard in solid mahogany and mahogany veneer, topped with thick Belgian granite marble and fitted with a frieze drawer. Set back, another drawer of the same size surmounts two small doors, giving a particular appeal to this deep red piece of furniture. Each of the fronts of this cabinet has a horizontal mahogany veneer. The drawers are provided, in the center, with a bronze entrance formed by horns of plenty, a key, and an original lock in working order. Below, we find a door with a hook and the other with an original lock in working order. Note the presence of an adjustable shelf on racks. On each side of this piece of furniture we find a tapering pilaster. In the upper part and on the front, busts of bronze caryatids stand proudly and feet are placed in the lower part, resting on a wooden square. Finally, a fine plinth surrounds the cabinet in the lower part. This Buffet Directoire will stand out for its small volume, its style and its rare composition. ******** Period: Late 19th century Excellent condition Finish: waxed only.
