"Fireback With The Arms Of The Buchet Family (64x66cm)"
Fireback with depressed angles, dated 1717, from the 18th century, aux armes de la famille Buchet installed and renowned in Gy in Haute Saône near Besançon, and the cross of the order of the Knights Hospitaller of the Holy Spirit. The arms are those of Claude-Antoine Buchet (1661-1745) Doctor of Law, lawyer, lawyer in parliament, bourgeois and lieutenant in the bailiwick of Gy, probably rector or dignitary of the order of the Holy Spirit. Coat of arms: Mid-party, first of the Order of the Holy Spirit, which is azure with a twelve-pointed silver cross, second of Buchet, which is azure with a bored chevron accompanied in chief by two stars Argent and in point of a high sword of the same mounted Or. A sword broaching over the whole thing. Gy was one of the thirteen main Comtois establishments of the Order of Hospitallers of the Holy Spirit qualified as military and charity hospitals, in the same way as Besançon, Dôle, Gray or Vesoul. The absence of archives did not allow us to establish the link between the family and the hospital order. This plate comes from Devecey in the Doubs, 26 km from Gy. Its weight is 63 kg.
