"Albert Dasnoy (1885-1977) Belgium"
Albert Dasnoy is a Belgian impressionist painter born in Namur in 1885 where he died in 1977. He is the son of the painter Auguste Dasnoy (1839-1893). After a stint at the Academy of Fine Arts, he studied the pictorial imitation of wood and marble in order to practice the profession of decorator, which he did for 10 years. He began his career as an artistic painter in 1912. In 1918 he became a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Namur. This job stability allowed him to give up his job as a decorator and pursue easel painting. A first personal exhibition was dedicated to him in Brussels in 1928. It was the beginning of a career rich in success dotted with numerous sales and orders. In 1962, during a royal visit to Namur, King Baudoin received one of his paintings which is now on display at the Château de Laeken. From him, there now remains a sensitive work that often evokes in an impressionistic way, the peaceful soul of Namur and its population.
