Bronze vase with two small handles decorated with flowers by Charles Vital-Cornu (1851-1927), cast by Susse Frères. A small crack in one of the handles has been restored.
Charles Vital-Cornu (1851-1927) was a pupil of Pils, Jouffroy and Delaplanche. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1874 to 1923 and became a member in 1885. He received numerous awards for his works, including the bronze medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1889 and a silver medal at that of 1890 His work is characteristic of Art Nouveau.
