Beautiful mahogany and mahogany veneer psyche decorated with caryatids, embellished with its original mercury mirror.
Fine and rich ornamentation of chiseled gilded bronzes for the caryatids in sheaths declining scrolls, palmettes, anthemion and feet in sandals.
The pediment, framed on either side by a Greek vase, hosts in its tympanum a decoration of a tazza in the center of two cornucopias unfolding in a winding pattern.
The cornice is decorated with a central rosette set with scrolls of anthemions, and two stars. The tilting mirror is framed by an outer frieze of lotus flowers and an inner frieze of anthemions and a thin row of pearls.
This beautiful set rests on generous front and rear leonine feet, in blackened wood, carved with a large acanthus leaf crossed by a branch of golden laurel.
Consulate period, late 18th-early 19th century.
Work attributed to Jacob Frères (1796-1803): association of François Honoré Georges Jacob Desmalter and his brother Georges II Jacob, until the death of the latter in 1803.
