Elegant 19th century sculpture from the Romantic period in finely chiseled bronze depicting -Love and its Arc- featuring the young cupid fixing a string to his bow. Subject listed according to the sculptor Charles Gabriel Sauvage (1741-1827) and certified from the 19th century with its foundry stamp Gautier Bronzier. The set is embellished with a refined pedestal in solid mahogany richly decorated with neoclassical gilded bronzes. Note that another version of the artist is exhibited at the Louvre Museum in Paris. Charles Gabriel SAUVAGE said "LEMIRE" French sculptor born April 24, 1741 in Lunéville (Meurthe et Moselle) and died in 1827 in Paris. Son of a founder, Lemire worked very young in the modeling workshops of the Niderviller factory. He was its director for twenty years. He exhibited in Paris from 1808 to 1819. He won a medal in 1808.
